There are so many possible ways to get involved and support this work! Here are some ideas to spark your interest – please do let us know how you’d like to support (using any of the below, or other thoughts you might have) – we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer (subject to DBS where appropriate)

  • Regular Wednesday afternoon group
  • Bake / cook for the Wednesday group
  • Buddy system: journey alongside an individual or a family, meet fortnightly
  • English practice group: get together with three or four people fortnightly, chatting informally to practice English
  • Cook a meal once a week for a family stuck in a hotel with no food provision or cooking facilities
  • Weekly or fortnightly music or art lessons 1-1 with a child or adult
  • Ad-hoc practical bits (eg transporting donated items; Baby Basics referrals; trips to a clothing bank; transport to appointments; helping with group trips) dependent on your availability
  • Ad-hoc CV-writing/editing support 1-1
  • Ad-hoc paperwork support 1-1
  • Ad-hoc budgeting support sessions

Give gifts

  • Birthday gifts (kids/adults/babies)
  • Right to Remain gifts
  • Christmas hamper bits / Easter gifts
  • Small art/craft activity bits for group, e.g. paints/brushes/canvasses, yarn or knitting/crochet bits, beads…

Give practical needs items

  • Blankets
  • Rugs
  • Cushions
  • Large foldable bags
  • Tall clothes airers
  • Thermal food flasks
  • Power bank for charging phones
  • (New) mini heaters
  • Baby slings
  • Fairy lights / picture frames / decor
  • Food items (eg harvest festival style)
  • Tech bits eg old phone/tablet/laptop
  • Prams / push chairs

Give money

  • Each month/quarter
  • One-off

Advocate

  • Speak in your social group about it (or a hobby club / church group / MU etc)
  • Run an awareness raising event, e.g. coffee morning or talk evening etc
  • Raise funds for the work through an event or a callout etc

Pray

  • Receive 6-weekly email updates with prayer requests
  • Receive regular WhatsApp updates with more immediate prayer requests
